Submission Preparation Checklist
All submissions must meet the following requirements.
- This submission meets the requirements outlined in the author guidelines.
- This submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration.
- All references have been checked for accuracy and completeness.
- All tables and figures have been numbered and labeled.
- Permission has been obtained to publish all photos, datasets and other material provided with this submission.
Manuscript Preparation & Formatting
- General Format:
- Language: British or American English (consistent throughout).
- Font: 12-point, Times New Roman or Arial.
- Spacing: Double-spaced throughout, including abstract, references, and figure/table captions.
- Margins: 1-inch (2.54 cm) on all sides.
- File Type: Submit main text as a Microsoft Word (.docx) file.
Manuscript Structure:
- Title
- Structured Abstract (250 words):Must include separate, bolded headings: Background, Aims, Methods, Results, Conclusion.
- Keywords:4-6 keywords.
- Main Text: Should generally follow the structure: Introduction, Literature Review, Rationale, Objectives, Hypotheses, Methods, Results, Discussion, Conclusion.
- References: Use the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (7th Edition).
Ethical Guidelines
- Authorship:All listed authors must have made substantial intellectual contributions to the work and agree to be accountable for it.
- Originality & Plagiarism:Submissions must be original and not under consideration elsewhere. Text recycling (self-plagiarism) from the author's own previous publications is prohibited without full attribution. All manuscripts will be screened using plagiarism detection software.
- Data Integrity & Sharing:We encourage transparency. Authors of empirical papers must be prepared to provide raw, anonymised data upon request during peer review. CRBSS strongly encourages, and may require for certain article types, the public archiving of data and analysis code in a trusted, open-access repositories.
- Conflicts of Interest:Authors must disclose any financial, personal, or professional conflicts that could be perceived to influence the research. This includes funding sources. A declaration will be required upon submission.
- Human & Animal Subjects:Research involving human participants or animals must include a statement confirming approval by an appropriate Institutional Review Board (IRB) or Ethics Committee, and adherence to relevant ethical standards (e.g., Declaration of Helsinki, APA Ethical Principles). The manuscript must state that informed consent was obtained from all human participants.
Submission Process:
All submissions must be made via our online editorial management system.
Required Files: Upload the following separately:
- Blinded Manuscript:Main text, references, tables, and figures (without author identifying information).
- Title Page:With full author details and acknowledgements.
- Cover Letter:Addressed to the Editors, briefly stating the article's significance, its fit with CRBSS, and confirming it is not under review elsewhere.
- Supplementary Files(if any).
Peer Review: CRBSS employs a double-anonymised peer reviewprocess. Initial editorial screening assesses scope and basic quality. Manuscripts passing screening are sent to at least two independent expert reviewers. The Editorial Board makes the final decision based on reviewer recommendations.
Publication Policies
- Open Access :CRBSS is an Open Access All published articles are freely available online without subscription barriers. There are no Article Processing Charges (APCs) for authors.
- Copyright: Upon acceptance, authors retain copyright of their work and grant the journal a licence to publish under a Creative Commons Attribution (CC BY) 4.0 International License. This allows others to share and adapt the work, provided proper attribution is given.
- Proofs & Corrections: Corresponding authors will receive page proofs for final correction. Only typographical errors can be corrected at this stage.
